Abanindranath Tagore born on 7 August,1871 at Jorasanko in Calcutta..His father was Gunendranath Tagore and mother was Saudamini Devi.He had a brother and a sister-Gagenendranath Tagore and Sunayani Devi.Abanindranath took admission in St. Xavier's College to study English,for one and a half years.He learned art when studying at Sanskrit College. His idea of modernizing Mughal and Rajput paintings eventually gave rise to modern Indian painting,Some of his notable painting are 'Bharat Mata','The passing of Shah Jahan', 'Ganash Janani'.His some great literary works were meant for children like 'BudoAngla', 'Khirer Putul' and'Raj kahini' are the best examples of Bengali children's literature.Abanindranath Tagore passeda way on December 5th in 1951 at the age of 80.
